My first visit to the Monoprix alone, I bought some chicken, shallots, garlic and shiitake mushrooms. I found out later that Ben doesn’t like shiitake mushrooms! He did however like mine! I had purchased the day before a few other items I used in this meal. When I opened the chicken it was not what I was used to at home. The skin was a yellow color and the meat was a deeper shade of pink. A closer inspection revealed tiny little hairs! I was a bit freaked out! I googled all of these things and according to the world wide web. All was right with my chicken thighs!! I pan seared my chicken thighs while I caramelized the mushrooms and shallots. I then placed a couple pats of the creamiest butter I have ever seen into the pan with some minced garlic. I then poured this over some blanched broccolini and asparagus. Topped it with my chicken thighs and finished it up in my crazy microwave/ oven! It turned out to be delicious. The skin was the best part!

As some of you know and some of you may not know, Ben and I live in an area with a large influence of Asian culture. We love it! There are so many Asian restaurants that at times I fear I may never venture past my neighborhood to eat! It was only natural that after my first traditional French meal, we would try one of the many p places near by. Ben brought me to Akita, one of his favorite spots. Like most Japanese restaurants they start you off with a miso soup (a broth called dashi made from miso paste) which contained scallions, mushrooms seaweed and tofu. Next we were given a salad made of cabbage with sesame seeds and cucumber. It’s very similar to our coleslaw. We both ordered the salmon sushi and sashimi. The fish was so fatty it just melted in your mouth! Our menu selection also came with 4 selections from the yakatori menu. Who doesn’t love grilled meat on a stick!? I had the grilled chicken, the chicken meatballs, the beef and the cheese wrapped in beef. It’s hard to say which was my favorite
I created this dessert using boulevard beer for the ice cream. It has roasted plums, blueberries and honey granola . Just posting a few things! Getting ready for my adventure posts.
